Presenting Your Work With Impact

Whether you’re sharing ideas with colleagues or presenting your work to clients, it’s important to be able to present your work with impact.

Be clear about your intent and why you’re presenting your work. What decisions do you want people to make as a result of seeing your presentation? If there are areas that are still up for debate, make sure to articulate that so people can understand where you’re coming from – and so that you can make decisions and progress on.

Gauge agreement throughout the presentation so you can adjust accordingly. Remind yourself why you’re sharing this work in the first place. Is it to get feedback? To make a decision? To justify a course of action? Keep your goal in mind as you present, and be prepared to answer any questions that come up. The goal is to reach agreement, not simply to get your way.
