Working With Designers

Advice on how to collaborate and work with designers.

Some designers need clear direction in order to do their best work. When giving feedback, be as specific as possible about what you like and don’t like. designers are visual people, so it can be helpful to provide examples of other designs that you like or that are similar to what you are looking for.

Designers can be very passionate about their work, and protective of their ideas. Avoid coming across as critical or negative when giving feedback, and instead emphasize what you do like about the design. Or what would make it even better.

Designers are often under a lot of pressure to meet deadlines. If possible, try to give them some flexibility and allow them time to explore different creative options.

If you’re working with a designer for the first time, it’s important to set clear expectations from the outset. Make sure you have a good understanding of the project timeline and deliverables.
